About the Department
The Department of B. Com (Professional Accounting), launched in 2025, was the first of its kind under the University of Madras, setting a new benchmark in accounting education.
Guest lectures and industry talks keep students updated on accounting trends and practical applications. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in auditing, taxation, financial analysis, and corporate accounting, with opportunities as Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Financial Consultants, and Tax Advisors.
Objectives

The B.Com.[Professional Accounting] Degree Programme provides ample exposure to courses from the fields of Commerce, Accountancy and Management. The course equips the students for entry level jobs in industry, promotes the growth of their professional career, entrepreneurship and a key contributor to the economic development of the country.
